25 de ani… moment de reflexie

Tocmai am implinit 25 de ani de ‘vechime’ in UB! E un moment de cumpana si reflexie. Ce ‘brinza’ am facut matematica in acesti 25 de ani? Ce voi face in anii care vin (bunul Dumnezeu va decide citi vor mai fi)? Daca am fost sau nu un profesor bun doar fostii/actualii mei studenti sunt in masura sa ma judece. Sinteza dupa 25 de ani despre ce am facut in stiinta asta sunt in cele trei fisiere de mai jos. Up-date 30.09.2016.  Admisi CS1 2016 (am candidat si in septembrie 2016 iar gasca de acolo m-a executat din nou in stil pur sicilian (*) ): Radu Pantilie, Arghir Zarnescu. Comisia de „concurs”: Vasile Brînzănescu & co (A. Dimca, C. Popescu, Dan Timotin, Marius Tucsnak).  (*) Expresia metaforica ‘pur sicilian’ este perceptia mea (subiectiva) a ceea ce a ajuns matematica dupa 25 de ani in care lucrez. Sa ma explic: Indivizii astia (stat in stat, deranajati de nimeni vreme de 25 de ani si laudindu-se cu ‘protectia’ ministrilor, a rectorilor ca sa intimideze subalternii in a le contesta deciziile) au refuzat sa publice CV-urile si lista de lucrari ale candidatilor! Eram net peste oricare dintre acestia si anul acesta ca si in 2015. Anul trecut cand le-am cerut explicit asta au refuzat zicind un fapt care m-a socat: ”pentru noi NU coteaza articolele publicate sau impactul lor (i.e. citari) la scara internationala„. Asa cum e evaluat orice cercetator in lume. Stiam asta ca ii cunosc foarte bine: pentru ei conteaza doar un sigur lucru: sa pupi ghiului ‘nasului’ care a creat acest regim care nu mai are nimic academic in el. E unul pe care doar DNA-ul il poate destructura.

Algebre Hopf – curs master 2013-2014

Update 03.04.2014: De ce trebuie sa aiba inele unitate? 🙂 E o intrebare provocatoare, cu atit mai mult cu cat Emy Noether nu a inclus aceasta axioma in definitia lor. Doua articole foarte faine pe tema asta sunt aici:

http://www.math.uconn.edu/~kconrad/blurbs/ringtheory/ringdefs.pdf Am lucrat tot timpul cu inele pe care le presupun unitare insa de anul trecut am dubii daca existenta lui  ‘1’ trebuie pus ca axioma. Daca punem si acesta axioma atunci pierdem algebrele nilpotente (s-a lucrat enorm de mult pe tema lor, in special clasicii clasificarii in anii 50) sau cele metabeliene (http://arxiv.org/pdf/1312.5991.pdf ).

Update 18.10.2013: Am sa scriu la comentarii diverse probleme, teme de cercetare si detalii suplimentare la diverse ‘ferestre’ pe care le deschid la curs (unde sunt limitat de timp ) si care depasesc programa cursului. Ele pot fi aprofundate de studentii interesati sa stie mai mult despre o anumita tema de cercetare. Pentru detalii va stau la dispozitie: aici pe blog, in sala de curs, sau in birou.

Cred ca va pot fi foarte utile si link-urile de mai jos: ele contin discutii, probleme de cercetare, etc pe care le-am avut cu studentii la un curs similar. Multe dintre problemele de cercetare pe care l-am propus acolo inca nu au solutii. De exemplu ar fi interesant de calculat centrul (in sens clasic) al categoriei algebrelor Hopf finit dimensionale. Pentru categoria grupurilor finite este un rezultat frumos demonstrat (cautati prin arXiva acestui blog) de Dragos Fratila – el va poate inspira pentru a generaliza teorema pentru algebre Hopf. Dar asta mai tirziu dupa ce ajungem sa stapinim cine sunt aceste obiecte naravase.

Grant no. 88/05.10.2011 of the Romanian National Authority for Scientific Research, CNCS-UEFISCDI. Title:  ‘Hopf algebras and related topics’

Code of the project: PN-II-ID-PCE-2011-3-0039

The team: Prof. Gigel Militaru (the team leader of the project), CS III Sebastian Burciu, CS III Bogdan Ion, AC Ana-Loredana Agore (PhD student – PhD since 1/10/2012), AC Costel Gabriel Bontea (PhD  student).

Project Summary: Hopf algebras were introduced around 1960 arising from algebraic geometry and algebraic topology. The second important development within this field of study started in 1987 with the appearance of the paper Quantum groups by V. Drinfel’d. The project will be focused on both parts (classic and quantum) of the theory of Hopf algebras and has two corresponding general objective each of them with several open problems. Objective I: New structural results for Hopf algebras. There are four open problems related to this objective. Objective II: Categorical methods in quantum groups. Braided, monoidal and fusion categories. There are five open problems related to the second objective.

Algebra necomutativa s-a dezvoltat in jurul studiului algebrelor centrale simple la inceputul secolului trecut. joburi pe europa.eu

Pentru prima data in istoria UB si FMI sunt anuntate 5 joburi vacante pe site-ul european al joburilor academice. E o directie spre care Ro se va indrepta fortati de normele europene si nu de … mult prea statuta balta academica autohtona. Sper ca nu va trece mult pana cind toate joburile din invatamintul superior din tara sa fie postate si acolo. Nu intimplator primele joburi din UB anuntate la concurs pe site-ul UE sunt postate din directia algebrelor Hopf: 3 joburi part-time (fiecare cu jumate de norma – maxim 4 ani de la absolvirea facultatii) vor fi finantate din proiectul de cercetare condus de dl. Sorin Dascalescu si 2 joburi full-time (unul cercetator CSIII – pana in 10 ani de la sustinerea tezei de doctorat – si unul de asistent de cercetare – maxim 4 ani de la absolvirea facultatii) vor fi finantate din grantul al carui director, evident ‘exceptional‘,  :) sunt.

Partea nostima a afacerii: eu am postat aceste job-uri pe site-ul Euraxess (nu conducerea administrativa a UB desi era obligatia lor ca institutie sa o faca) si m-am chinuit, enervat si amuzat teribil in final pana am reusit sa o fac. E o chestie ce tine de importul romanesc al …. ‘formelor fara fond’. Ca directori de proiecte de cercetare suntem obligati prin contract sa postam joburile vacante si pe site-ul Euraxess ceea este excelent. Numai ca acolo ai camp obligatoriu de completare cum sa se inscrie candidatii la concurs: on-line sau pe mail. Astea erau singurele optiuni posibile si obligatorii cind anuntati postul la concurs. Dar legea romana a concursurilor nu poate permite inscrierea la concurs prin aceste doua metode!  :(  Ci prin depunera actelor la UB: in care diplomele trebuiesc recunoscute de minister (daca vine cineva din Africa, China sau Brazilia la concurs) iar tot diplomele trebuiesc legalizate dupa ce sunt recunoscute de minister! Ceea ce constitutie o birocratie inutila a legii romane care contravine UE. Probabil ca daca cineva din Germania vrea sa se inscrie la concurs nu va putea pentru ca lege romana il obliga la niste hirtii si parahirtii (inclusiv cazier de la politie :)). Asa ca la acele campuri obligatorii am dat adresele celor doi director de grant de e-mail (pentru ca UB-ul nu ofera posibilitate de incriere on-line la concurs pe site pentru ca se pare ca nu e nici legal) si daca ne scrie cineva ii indrumam la biroul resurse umane.

Cursul de algebre Hopf – anul V

Asa cum puteti constata si in orarul facultatii de maine, la cererea voastra, cursul si seminarul ‘exceptional‘🙂 de algebre Hopf incepe de la ora 14 in aceiasi sala. Despre temele si subiectele abordate la curs: daca mergeti pe blog in spate, la topicuri mai vechi, o sa gasiti cam tot ce am predat acum 2 sau 3 ani. Acolo sunt temele detaliate, probleme propuse, solutii ingenioase date de studentii enervant de studiosi. :)  O sa pun link-urile aici sa va fie mai usor cind o sa am timp in perioada urmatoare.
